THE Island's rolling rate has increased to 26.1 per 100,000 people, but the area is the third best in the UK.

The rolling rate increased from 23.3 yesterday but is considerably lower than the UK rate which has now surpassed 200, to 214.4.

Only Comhairle nan Eilean Siar in the Western Isles on 11.2 and North Norfolk on 21 are better placed than the Island, out of all the lower tier authorities.

The rolling rate data is five days behind, and is expected to rise over coming days, as the Island has seen a considerable number of positive cases confirmed.

There were ten cases yesterday, and nine today, according to Public Health England's daily data.

It has been several weeks since there were any Covid patients in St Mary's Hospital, according to most recently available data, from June 27.

The number of Covid patients treated in St Mary's has remained at a cumulative figure of 746 for the past month.

Several schools have pupils isolating following confirmed cases, including Barton and Nine Acres primary schools, and Cowes Enterprise College and Medina College.
