THE popular Isle of Wight Arts Open Studios open now right thorugh to July 26.

Every year Isle of Wight artists show off their work in their studios or hired spaces for people to come and see how it is done and to ask questions. The event is completely free, although there are opportunities to purchase artworks.

Freshwater glass artist, painter and sculptor Boris Moscoff has teamed up with Maria Ward, Island artist and illustrator, at Fort Victoria corner room in Yarmouth for this year's Open Studios.

Showing a wide mix of contemporary, abstract, and illustrative art as well as sculpture and glass pieces with a predominantly turquoise theme it is a celebration of the Isle of Wight.

Another popular artist is Charlotte Hodge Thomas, at 24 Walls Road, Bembridge.

There will be new paintings and prints on display, and a full range of
limited edition prints and art cards for people to browse. The studio and ground floor living space will be transformed into a gallery.

One of the organisers, Rob Hawker, said: "Many artists and craft makers were keen to take part and it was vital to keep this popular event in the mind of the public, as confirmed by subsequent feedback.

"A number of artists chose to miss this year, but with new artists, we still have nearly 100 taking part.

"The event is popular well beyond the Island, and we hope many of our regular visitors can return and help our Island economy."

An accompanying yearbook, free of charge, has been designed by Pepper Creative, showing the artists' entries.

They will also be stocked in libraries, tourist information outlets, Quay Arts, and many book and art shops.
