A DYNAMIC dance duo, from the Brading based Roisin Mullins Dance Academy, recently brought 19 dance awards home to the Island.

The light footed pair of Irish dancers took to the stage at the National Solent Feile competition, in Portchester, where they swept up the top prizes.

Elsie Butler, seven, of Ryde, took ten solo awards including two top winning first places.

Annabelle Acutt, 12, of Brading, took a further nine solo awards, including second place.

Dancers came from as far afield as Coventry and Derby to compete at the contest, hosted by worldwide dance organisation, An Coimisiun.

The Island girls hit the podium a staggering nine times, taking most of the top spots.

Dance coach Roisin, who toured with Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance, and appeared on The X-Factor, said: "I am incredibly proud of our dancers, for getting back out on the competition circuit, after a long gap, due to Covid-19.

"Proof their hard work at home during the crisis, and extra training when back in the studio has paid off. I was thrilled to see our girls up on the podium, taking the top places. Our whole dance team have been celebrating."
