Bembridge's RNLI crew was called to help a yacht which was taking on water, off St Catherine's Point, last night (Tuesday).

The 22 foot boat was 12 nautical miles south of the Isle of Wight.

The all weather lifeboat - the RNLB Alfred Albert Williams - launched at 10.50pm on August 3 to help the 'disorientated' and elderly skipper.

The crew reached the boat at about 11.45pm and two members transferred from the lifeboat to the yacht.

Due to the tides, they towed the boat to Portsmouth, arriving back at their Bembridge base at 6.15am this morning (Wednesday).
