Walk-ins and appointments for Covid-19 vaccinations continue for people on the Isle of Wight, aged 18 and over.

It's before the Riverside Centre in Newport is expected to close as a vaccine hub at the end of August.

AstraZeneca

Until 8 August, from 8am until 12.30pm, AstraZeneca jabs are available to anyone aged over 40 years old (for either a first dose, or for those who have waited at least eight weeks since their first dose).

From August 21 to 26, between 8am and 12.30pm, AstraZeneca doses will again be available.

Pfizer

Meanwhile, until August 8, from 4pm to 7.30pm, walk-in appointments are available for 18-39 year olds who need a Pfizer vaccine.

There will also be Pfizer appointments from 9 to 20 August (8am to 7.30pm) and from August 21 to 26 (4pm to 7.30pm).

You will need to have left a gap of eight weeks between the first and second doses.

The Riverside Centre opened as a vaccine hub on February 1.

It has handed out more than 200,000 doses on the Isle of Wight.

Angela Anderson, Clinical Director of the Vaccination Programme at Solent NHS Trust, said: "We are incredibly grateful to all the volunteers and staff who have worked at the Riverside Centre since it opened in February of this year.

"The response from people who have visited the centre to receive their vaccination has been incredibly positive."

Meanwhile, it has now emerged that teenagers, aged 16 and 17, could soon be offered the vaccine.

There were seven people with coronavirus in hospital on the Island, according to the latest available information and the Island's average rolling rate per 100,000 appears to be falling.

There were 31 cases added to the Island's cumulative total yesterday (Wednesday), taking it to 8,132 since the start of the pandemic.

There has been a warning that the drop might be down to fewer people taking lateral flow tests.
