A FURTHER 55 confirmed Covid cases have been added to the Isle of Wight's total today (Tuesday).

The daily data from Public Health England takes the Island's cumulative total since the pandemic began, to 9,507 cases.

The Isle of Wight rolling rate. always five days behind, remains high and above the UK average, at 437.1, not far from yesterday's 438.5.

The UK rate is 334.4, up from yesterday's 327.4.

The government's interactive map showing Covid rates, is still showing the Island as purple.

On scrolling in, the Island is a mixture of purple and blue.

St Mary's Hospital has closed its wards to visitors, due to rising numbers of people with Covid in hospital.

At the last update, there were nine patients with Covid at St Mary's but this data is only updated once a week and also has a time lag.
