A HEARTTHROB to millions of fans around the world as a pop chart topper, star of the West End and young soap icon, Jason Donovan is back on the road and performing in Portsmouth this autumn.

The Aussie superstar will be at Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday, November 26 — performing the 30th of his 36-date Even More Good Reasons tour across the UK and Ireland.

During his show, Donovan will be singing his biggest hits and fan favourites for the first time live in five years.

The tour was originally meant to take place last year, but due to the ongoing pandemic, he was forced to move all the dates back 12 months.

Isle of Wight County Press:

The 53-year-old has performed on the Island in Jack Up the 80s at Smallbrook Stadium, Ryde, in 2017, and brought his more intimate show, Jason Donovan And His Amazing Midlife Crisis, to Shanklin Theatre in 2018.

Donovan first got himself noticed in the hit Australian TV soap, Neighbours, co-starring with Kylie Minogue.

They then went on to forge highly successful pop singing careers.

His debut album, Ten Good Reasons, was the highest-selling album in the UK in 1989, with sales of over 1.5 million copies.

Even More Good Reasons celebrates the 30th anniversary of the album's release, which also topped the album charts.

Dovovan has had four UK number one singles, one of which was Especially for You, in 1988 — a duet with Minogue — as well as Too Many Broken Hearts and Any Dream Will do.

He has also appeared in several stage musicals, most prominently in the lead role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the early 90s.

Donovan also performed in the stage version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd a decade later.

He also got to the latter stages of I'm a Celebrity .... Get Me Out of Here, which he said revitalised his career, and more recently, Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing On Ice.

His mammoth tour starts in Dartford on Saturday and ends on March 2 next year.

The popular performer said: "I’m ecstatic the tour is finally underway. We’ve had to reschedule the dates a number of times, so to be actually making plans at last is really exciting.

"I literally can’t wait to get on the road again. My wife can’t wait for me to get on the road again either.

"I’m really aware of how difficult it has been for the live sector. I was always positive that once things started to move towards a sense of what we knew before, people would naturally want to share in that experience of a live show once again.

It has been overwhelming and emotional to see people celebrating life.  I’d like to think that live shows are a bit of therapy out of the last 18 months.

"It’s always great to revisit times when life was much simpler, so I hope people will come along and do just that.

“I can’t wait to get out there again amongst my fans and deliver a new energetic show that is both personal, creative and reflective — something both nostalgic and just a bloody good night out."
