The presents have been opened and the turkey eaten, next comes the big clean-up. If your bins are usually overflowing during the festive period, here’s when you can take a trip to the tip over Christmas.
Along with being “the most wonderful time of the year”, Christmas is also a time of accumulating rubbish and recycling – from wrapping paper to old electrical items, in with the new generally means out with the old.
With all this waste, it’s handy if you can get rid of some of it without having to wait for the next kerbside collection.

You must book an appointment ahead of time when visiting Isle of Wight recycling centres and take your reference number with you - without it you will be turned away.
The Isle of Wight Council have issued a warning though, saying: "Site staff reserve the right to decline access to any vehicles carrying excessively large volumes of waste due to current high demand.
"Waste must be from your household only."
You can book a recycling centre slot online or over the phone by calling the council’s waste services team on 01983 823777.
Booking Slots are in 15-minute windows and must be made at least 24 hours before visiting.
