MORE than 130 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed on the Isle of Wight today (Thursday).
The latest government data reveals that 137 people have been confirmed to have Covid on the Island today.
These most recent cases bring the Isle of Wight total, since the pandemic began, to 24,426.
The Island’s Covid rolling rate, which is always five days behind, has increased from yesterday, standing at 879.9 up from 851.7.
At 1,936.4, the Isle of Wight age group with the highest Covid rolling rate remains 20 – 24-year-olds, followed by 25 – 29-year-olds with a rolling rate of 1,788.8.
The UK national rolling rate now stands at 1,736.8.
Latest data released by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, shows that 22 people are in St Mary’s Hospital with Covid-19, two of which require the use of ventilation beds.
The Isle of Wight’s hospital is bracing itself, not only for increased seasonal pressures but also an expected surge in Omicron patients.
