IT WAS a busy Friday and Saturday night for emergency services.

The Isle of Wight Police’s custody centre has been ticking over, with people detained for various offences.

In the early hours of Friday morning, four people were arrested for a serious assault that occurred outside Fever in Newport.

They have been bailed whilst police make further enquires.

A male was arrested on Friday morning, on suspicion of drinking driving, he was subsequently charged and will appear at court in the coming weeks.

Another male was arrested later Friday, on suspicion of domestic assault.

During the day there were a couple of RTI’s, but thankfully no one has been seriously hurt.

Sgt Radford of Isle of Wight Police confirmed that a ‘few other things happened during yesterday’ and ‘very detailed investigations’ are ongoing.

“I have come in to work today to find a police van in the yard with its cage doors open, that can only mean one thing . . . Custody busy again.”

“It seems alcohol has played a part in people’s behaviour,” Sgt Radford posted on the Isle of Wight Police's Facebook page this morning (Sunday).
