A SEASON of musical events have been scheduled for Medina Bookshop.

February sees the return of the bookshop’s Music Mondays, a series of intimate music performances inside the cosy store.

Following on from a successful trial last autumn, this season will see a diverse programme featuring all manner of genres.

For lovers of jazz the season kicks off with the silky tones of Nina Ross, with later shows featuring the contemporary compositions of Mark Chettle and Jon Thorne, or a selection of standards from the Jim Thorn trio.

Singer/songwriter Angelina will be bringing her authentic early blues with a modern twist and on Valentine's Day her brother JC will be performing with the season’s curator Paul Armfield to deliver an evening of love songs.

For those who prefer something a little more classical, world class cellist James Halsey will be performing solo pieces from across the centuries.

To finish the season on March 28, Italian troubadour Giulio Cantore will wow audiences with his guitar playing and charming serenatas.

Paul said: "Although a small space, we keep numbers limited to 30 and endeavour to ensure sufficient ventilation, keeping risk to a minimum.

"The audiences all seem to have been relieved and excited to be experiencing quality live music again.

"There have been some very magical nights and we look forward to more this spring."

Early booking is recommended.

Reservations can be made in person at the shop at 50 High Street, Cowes, or by phoning 01983 300044.

All events are priced at £6, and attendees are asked to bring their own refreshments.
