KIDNAPPER Kazm Saed has been sent to jail for 13 years.

Judge, Recorder Paul Garlick, sentenced Saed this afternoon following a week long trial.

Kazm Saed was found guilty earlier today of burglary of Mountbatten's furniture warehouse on Riverway, aggravated burglary of the home of Graham Deacon on Riverway, and aggravated burglary of Graham and Rachel Fuller's home at Nunnery Lane.

He was also found guilty of kidnapping, unlawfully and by force or fraud taking or carrying away Rachel and Graham Fuller against their will, and robbery of the couple of £600.

Two counts of possession of a knife were discharged as the judge said the jury didn't have to return verdicts on those.

Recorder Garlick said the ordeal the Fullers were put through was particularly horrifying, with Mr Fuller suffering the humiliation of being naked in bed when the assailant woke him up at knifepoint to get dressed and take him to a cashpoint.

The judge told Saed: "It was made worse that you sat in the back seat with Mrs Fuller, with Mr Fuller knowing at any moment you could have used the knife on his wife.

"It's hard to imagine anything more serious."

Russell Pyne, representing Saed, said he had been held in custody since the offences and feels isolated and lonely and wishes to be deported back to Iraq, even though he doesn't know if he would be safe if that happened.

He said Saed offered no reason for committing the offences, which he had denied throughout the trial, once the jury found him guilty.

Detective Constable Ross Jones said: “Saed subjected these poor people to terrifying ordeals, where they genuinely feared for their lives.

“Their courage throughout this process has been inspiring, and it is because of their strength that we have been able to pull all of the pieces of the puzzle together.

“Saed’s denial despite the evidence being stacked against him, including forensics and identification by the victims, has been absurd.

"I am pleased that the jury have seen through this and he is now in prison where he belongs.”
