MORE than 100 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed on the Isle of Wight, according to the latest government data.
Public Health England figures released today (Wednesday) show 178 new cases.
Yesterday, 160 cases were recorded, and 104 the day before.
The latest figure takes the Isle of Wight total, since the start of the pandemic, to 26,139.
The Island's rolling rate per 100,000 people has also risen.
Always five days behind, in the seven days to January 21, it was 626.9.
Yesterday, in the seven days to January 20, that figure stood at 607.9.
Five new Covid-linked deaths were also revealed by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust yesterday.
According to the latest data, after getting coronavirus, two patients died on January 23 and three died on January 21.
The UK rolling rate now stands at 945.2, with 102,292 new cases confirmed.
The latest Isle of Wight NHS data shows 24 patients in St Mary’s Hospital with Covid-19, with three requiring a specialist ventilation bed.
From Thursday, January 27, mandatory Covid passes will end and face masks will no longer be required.
