The Sweetcorn Fayre attracted visitors from 2006 to 2018 and raised thousands of pounds for Isle of Wight charities, including St George’s School, Mountbatten, Challenge and Adventure and most recently Beaulieu Respite.

Many visitors will remember when Bob the Cob and Connie Corn got married in 2016 — and their baby, Nora Niblet, was born the following year.

Some readers may also remember when Bob the Cob boarded the Wightlink ferry in 2007.

The fayre wasn’t just about sweetcorn either — over the years the event at Arreton Barns also included live music, a real ale festival, fairground rides, fun games for the children, cooking challenges, parades of steam vehicles and vintage tractors, re-enactments by historic groups and so much more — it will be missed.
