ENJOY the gardens of the Isle of Wight's Northcourt Manor in Shorwell on the 50th year it has participated in the National Garden Scheme's open gardens.

Owners Christine and John Harrison are looking forward to opening the gates to the public on Sunday, April 10,

The gardens will be open from 12pm to 4pm for £5 each. There will be plants to buy and the chance to enjoy a cuppa.

Over the years, Northcourt has raised about £50,000 and welcomed nearly 20,000 visitors.

It is Christine and John's 40th year at the manor house, during which they have planted about 20,000 plants.

Visitors will be able to enjoy 120 camellias which will be in flower.

There are 26 different magnolias, some of which will be over, but the yellow Elizabeth will be at its best.

Northcourt will also host the 60th Shorwell Midsummer Fair on Saturday, June 18, from 1pm.

The event has raised £250,000 for local organisation over 60 years.
