AS we swiftly head towards the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, we are planning celebrations — so we thought we would take a look back at the Isle of Wight's Diamond Jubilee events of ten years ago.
The Isle of Wight’s schools, businesses and community organisations put on events in 2012 — and many of them are doing so again this year.

Most local schools are holding their celebrations this week or next week, because the jubilee weekend falls within half term.
Numerous local communities are planning street parties during the Platinum jubilee weekend, which stretches from Thursday, June 2, to Sunday, June 5.
The Queen ascended to the throne in February 1952, but the first weekend in June has been chosen for the platinum celebrations because the coronation was on June 2, 1953.
