BOMB squad teams are heading to the Isle of Wight this evening (Wednesday) after the discovery of potential ordnance.

Police were contacted by a member of the public at 1.48pm, who was excavating at their property in Wroxall.

There is also something described as a torpedo still buried and visible through a small hole.

Explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams have studied photos that were sent to them and are on their way to the Island to make a full assessment.

Police teams remain at the scene.
