THE 2023 Island Car Centre Sandown Sprint has proved so popular, entries are nearly full already.

The speed trials race opened for competitors on Friday, December 9, but is now practically full.

More than 90 cars have applied to enter the race, which returns to Culver Parade in Sandown on March 25 and March 26, 2023.

Malcolm Smith, chairman of the Isle of Wight Car Club which organises the Sprint, said: “We’ve had a very fast take up of entries since Friday, with many cars returning after the first event held in April.

"There’s also more Island drivers taking part in 2023 which is great news.”

Among those coming back will be the fastest man around the track, Damian Bradley,
and the overall winner Will Nicholls.

Will said: "The first Sandown Sprint was a lot of fun for the drivers and hopefully for the spectators.

"I was pushed really hard for top spot in 2022 and if anything I’m expecting the competition to be hotter next year.”

More details of the cars and drivers, and some special guests, are anticipated in the New Year.

Spectator tickets will again be limited, but available now to purchase online at isleofwightspeedtrials.co.uk
