Ms Sharon Freeley, interim executive headteacher, said: "Christmas is a magical time of year, and if you're religious, it has an even deeper meaning."
Ms Freeley continued: "As a church school, it is a very important part of our year, and it was so lovely to be able to come together to sing and listen to the Christmas story being retold."
"Reception class were amazing! They performed perfectly, and all took their roles very seriously.
"Children from Year 5 and 6 were clear and confident as they shared their readings from the books of Luke and Matthew.
"We sung all our favourite carols, including O Little Town of Bethlehem, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night, We Three Kings — and the camels were a hit at they sauntered down the aisle — and The First Noel. A truly spiritual and uplifting afternoon!"
The school would like to thank the churchwardens at St. James' for allowing them to use the church and Father Jonathan for leading the service.
- During the last week of term, pupils at Summerfields Primary School, Newport, celebrated Christingle at nearby St Paul's Church, Barton.
Key Stage 2 pupils made their own Christingles and then took a short walk to the church, where the children were involved in the service.
A school spokesperson said: "It was lovely to be back in church again and to hear the children sing some old favourites."
