On Friday, January 6, we experienced a medical episode that rapidly turned into an emergency that required a 999 call.
Sitting in the car park outside the leisure centre in Freshwater at 4.30pm, dark, waiting for an ambulance.
After a second 999 call at 6.15pm, where my husband had had three more episodes of not being able to breath, blacking out, being disorientated, the last one lasting over a minute.
The ambulance (no 610) was seven minutes away with Beth and Kenny on board.
The thorough, professional, yet friendly way my husband was treated was just amazing (gave us confidence that we were in the right hands).
St Mary’s A&E staff were again thorough in their search as to the cause, the ECG recorded wildly dancing numbers.

After spending the night in A&E, the following day my husband was transported to QA hospital in Portsmouth, straight into theatre where a pacemaker was fitted.
A close call indeed.
Throughout the entire experience we were treated with respect - professionalism delivered in a friendly caring manner.
We can’t express our gratitude and thanks enough to all the NHS staff involved.
He came home on Monday.
