A fundraiser has been set up for a young Isle of Wight family who say they have lost 'pretty much everything' in a fire at their home in Newport.

Firefighters from Newport and Cowes were called to flats on the corner of Beauchamp Drive and Godric Road, in Pan, on Sunday (5).

The incident saw residents evacuated as crews tackled the blaze.

No was hurt in the fire, but the occupants of the flat where it broke out, Georgina and Danny, say the property has suffered smoke damage.

How to donate to the fundraiser for fire-hit Isle of Wight family:

Isle of Wight County Press:

They say majority of their belongings have also been destroyed.

Their kitchen and living room will need replacing, they say, and their two young girls have lost their toys and teddies.

A fundraiser, set up by Danny's aunty and uncle, has so far raised just under £4,000.

The fundraiser reads: "Please help them get back on their feet as quickly as possible.

"At the moment they only have their nightclothes and no shoes to wear.

"Little Darcie is worried about her new bed and goodness knows what else.

Isle of Wight County Press:

"What an awful, heart-wrenching situation to be in.

"Please help if you can with any amount at all. We'd be so grateful."

Georgina said she hates the idea of begging, but is asking for any help possible.
