EAST Cowes-based charity MAD-Aid will no longer be collecting general aid donations from the public for Ukraine.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t still help.

The charity still needs help purchasing and shipping specific items as part of its United4Ukraine appeal.

Since war broke out, MAD-Aid has been transporting aid donations from the UK to refugee centres on the Moldova/Ukraine border.

The generosity of Islanders saw two-thirds of the 34 trucks sent packed full of donations from our shores.

Collection points included the County Press office, various Island pubs, schools and churches, Hose Rhodes Dickson offices and Wootton Estate Agents.

The MAD-Aid team says most refugees no longer need many general items, such as bedding, tents and shoes, which were donated in such huge quantities last year.

Instead, the charity is working with companies to source much-needed items, purchase them, and ship these supplies to where they are needed most.
