POLICE on mobile patrol around the Isle of Wight had some April fools to deal with on the roads on April Fools' Day.
This morning (Saturday) began with it meeting a car going the wrong way around a roundabout in Newport.
On the Island police's Facebook page, one of the officer's involved posted: "I really thought I was being April 1st pranked this morning when on patrol.
"Ticket issued to the driver. Some education was also imparted as to the dangerous nature."
Also, a man driving around Coppins Bridge roundabout in Newport this afternoon was too impatient to wait until he got home to check the football results.
"The last ticket I've issued today was a male driving his vehicle on Coppins Bridge, whilst on his phone checking the football scores," the officer said.
He said it was not considered an 'emergency' ticket issue, but the driver will have his driving licence endorsed with six penalty points.
The same patrol also caught two drivers without insurance.
"It would seem insurance companies are more and more using the 'Owners' Portal' to deliver messages, backed up with emails," the officer added.
"You have a responsibility to make sure your insurance is valid."
