Health officials are investigating after a number of people, including children, reported feeling unwell following a visit to a popular farm in Ryde.

Visitors to Hazelgrove Farm, Ryde have reported symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and a fever.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) South East has confirmed it is working with the Isle of Wight Council to investigate after a 'small' number fell unwell.

It said no one has fallen seriously unwell. However, the County Press has been told some children have been taken to St Mary's Hospital as a precaution.

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust has been contacted for a statement.

Dr Kitty Mohan, Consultant in Health Protection at UKHSA South East, said: “Specialists from UKHSA South East are providing public health advice and working with Isle of Wight Council and Hazelgrove Farm following reports of a number of people feeling unwell."

What to do if you feel unwell?


UKHSA advice to anyone affected is to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

It is also telling those affected to stay away from work, clubs, swimming pools and other water and social activities until you have been symptom free for 48 hours to prevent any spread.

Dr Mohan said: "If symptoms continue, please contact your GP and where possible provide a stool sample for testing.”

Hazelgrove Farm, in Ashey, offers lamb feeding sessions, making it a popular attraction for families.
