AN ISLE of Wight church is raising funds to create a special space for children.
St Helens Church has launched an appeal to renovate its old church office, and is keen to encourage families, school groups and children’s clubs to use the churchyard for pond dipping, bug hunting and wildlife exploration.
A kid’s shed is an ideal place to keep equipment, record discoveries, and find out more about the wildlife in the churchyard, but the building needs a new roof.
To raise funds, the Phoenix Choir will perform at the church on May 27.
The mixed choir will be singing a variety of songs from musicals and films including The Lion King, Grease, The Godfather, Singin’ In The Rain, Me And My Girl, and We Were Soldiers.
Admission is free with a retiring collection.
