The trial of a 15-year-old accused of plotting an Islamic State-style terror attack at the Isle of Wight Festival will take place later this month.
The boy, who cannot legally be identified because of his age, attended the Winchester Crown Court this morning (Friday, June 2) for a hearing.
At Winchester Crown Court last November — following an appearance at the Old Bailey — the Islander denied five counts.
They comprise one of engaging in the preparation of an act of terrorism, three of the dissemination of terrorist publications, and possession of a bladed article in July last year.
The teenager was arrested on July 11 by counter-terrorism police following a tip-off from the FBI, in which he allegedly planned to attack a non-believer he thought had insulted Islam.
As well as being accused of carrying out online research into a location to commit an attack — the Isle of Wight Festival being a potential target — the youth is said to have looked at weapons, including firearms, vehicles and a stab vest.
The major music event, held in Newport between June 16 and 19 last year, was attended by around 90,000 people.
The teenager's trial will be held at Winchester Crown Court on June 19 and is expected to last three weeks.
