A Chale man could be handed a jail sentence after gaining 'significant financial assets' due to his drug dealing in a rural Isle of Wight village.

Kenneth Gladdis, of Spanners Close, Chale Green, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled Class A drug with intent to supply at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 22.

Tim Devlin, prosecuting, said Gladdis was caught in possession of cocaine in Chale on May 5, 2021.

Mr Devlin told the court that the 48-year-old has significant financial assets due to his drug dealings.

Jim Osborne, defending, said Gladdis had a prolific habit of drugs before the offence, and his client was part of a small group of people who would give each other drugs.

He has since ‘turned his life around’, said Mr Osborne.

Mr Justice Saini told Gladdis he has a ‘very real prospect of custody’.

The case was adjourned until July 21, pending a pre-sentence report, and he will remain in custody.
