The immensely popular Festival of Heroes is returning to the Isle of Wight this weekend, but organisers have confirmed a new home for the event.

Festival of Heroes offers the chance to meet over 55 superheroes, princesses, storybook and TV characters and dinosaurs, watch arena shows and enjoy the entertainment in the big top.

There will also be loads of stalls to accompany the vintage rides, inflatables, shooting gallery, pony rides and many more activities.

Across the weekend, the main arena will play host to Savage Skills, a gravity-defying BMX vs mountainboard show, Heroes Assemble, Horse Box Theatre Company, Haven Falconry, Starlight Boutique Dancers and more.

The big top children’s area also features plenty of food and drink options and a mass of stalls by Island businesses.

Originally hosted at Brading Roman Villa, the event will take place at The County Show Ground in Northwood.

Organisers say this is due to ‘unavoidable ground issues’, but nothing else will change, and the event will be ‘just the same’.

There were concerns the Festival of Heroes would not return this year after last year’s event was described as ‘a victim of its own success’ following a huge turnout which caught organisers off-guard and resulted in a huge pile-up of traffic leaving the site.

An announcement followed, sharing the sad news that organisers had decided to ‘hang up their capes’, but hopes were later restored when a return was hinted if ‘any other option’ could be found.

Thankfully, the popular festival will return, at its new venue, on Saturday (July 22) and Sunday (June 23), between 11am – 5pm.

Raising money in aid of charity IW Daisy Chains, tickets are available at the gate on the day, and some attractions inside the showground are cash only.
