A JOBLESS Isle of Wight man who police said they saw driving an Audi A4 erratically and racing another car, was more than five times the drug-drive limit for cocaine metabolite BZE in his blood.

Cody Hills, of Downsview, Sandown, admitted two charges of drug driving on Hunnyhill, Newport, on March 19.

At 4.50pm that day, police say they saw Hill driving erratically along Newport's Medina Avenue and that he appeared to be racing a vehicle.

When he was pulled over, Hills, 24, said he had been out drinking with his family.

He did not fail a roadside alcohol breath test but he did fail a roadside drugs swipe and was subsequently arrested.

From a blood test taken at Newport Police Station, Hills was over the specified limit for two drugs.

He had 27ug/ of cocaine (the limit is 10), and 256ug/L for cocaine deritative benzoylecgnine, or BZE (the limit is 50).

For Hills, Amy Hosell said her client disputed he had been driving erratically and that he was overtaking a car, not racing.

"He wants to nip drugs in the bud, so to speak," said Miss Hosell.

Hills was banned from driving for 14 months and handed a £120 fine, with £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.
