'We want to keep what's been built, going', say the new landlords of a popular Isle of Wight pub.

Katie Brown and Dave Wells are taking over from Sam and Pete Booth, at The Travellers Joy, in Northwood.

The couple may be familiar to those living in area, having recently been in charge of The Pavilion, at Gurnard Pines.

They took over the bar and cafe in October 2022 after moving to the Island from Leicestershire.

In June, they announced they would be leaving and thanked customers for their support.

Come October this year, they will replace Sam and Pete, who are stepping aside from The Travellers Joy due to health reasons.

The pair have been at the helm for over five and a half years, and before that they worked there, on and off, across 17 years.

Katie and Dave are friends with the Booths and it was Pete and Sam who suggested the pair take over from them.

Speaking to the County Press, Katie said they have "big shoes to fill".

She said: "They have done a fantastic job. We want to keep what they have built, going and keep the same vibe.

"It's working well so we don't want to break it."

Katie said she has experience in pubs having grown up in them, but this is is the first time the couple have run one.

Katie and Dave will lease The Travellers Joy from owners, Derek and Ruth Smith.

They will take over from October 4.

The Travellers Joy has, once again, recently been named Isle of Wight CAMRA Pub of the Year.

Last year it was named as the County Press Pub of the Year 2022, following a public vote.
