An 80-year-old woman has completed a tandem skydive to help raise vital funds for an Isle of Wight charity close to her heart.
Pat Metcalf, a volunteer at Sandown’s Friends of the Animals charity shop, wanted to do something a bit different to celebrate her 80th birthday and raise funds for the charity… so she decided to do a skydive!
The dive was originally planned to take place on June 8, but due to last-minute cancellations, she took the plunge at Sandown Airport on Wednesday (August 16).
A spokesperson from Friends of the Animals said: “We would like to thank Pat so very much for doing this fundraiser for us.”
Pat also recently adopted six-year-old Trixie, a dog being cared for by the charity.
Originally from Spain, Trixie developed a condition called leishmaniasis due to bites from sandflies, meaning she requires lifelong medication, but Pat has offered her a forever home.
You can still donate via the Friends of the Animals website or by calling 01983 522 511, with the grand total raised being released very soon.
