WITH decent weather forecast, a sailing club on the Island can expect it to be third time lucky as they attempt to circumnavigate the Isle of Wight for a worthy cause.

Tomorrow (Sunday), a crew of eight young sailors, aged 11 to 17 years, and an instructor, with Yarmouth Sailing Club, will attempt to sail around the Island in aid of the West Wight Dementia Choir in an event called The Quest's Quest.

After two failed attempts previously to do it due to the weather, a window of opportunity has opened for the fundraisers.

The crew will attempt to sail around the island in three RS Quest 14ft dinghies, which is anticipated will take the youths around 11 hours to complete.

"The West Wight Dementia Choir is a true grassroots charity that does amazing work, which aims to set up choirs all over the Island," said club spokesman, Inez Newman.

"This will be third time lucky for us as the two previous attempts were cancelled due to bad weather, making it unsafe to attempt.

"It’s an amazing challenge and one that will test some of the young people who have learned their sailing skills at Yarmouth Sailing Club."

They will set off from Yarmouth Harbour at 5am.
