ISLE of Wight Police were forced to issue a dispersal order in Ryde following incidents of disorder after Ryde Illuminated Carnival had finished.

The duty inspector put in place the Section 35 anti-social behaviour measures at 10.10pm last night (Saturday), to run until 7am this morning (Sunday).

On social media, the officer said: "Whilst there have been no serious incidents to report, officers do need the ability to direct people to leave the area who have contributed to, or are likely to contribute to, causing people harassment, alarm or distress — or the occurrence of crime and disorder."
