An Isle of Wight man, found to be more than 11 times over the drug drive limit after he crashed his work van near Ryde, will be sentenced next month.
George Pipes of Quay Lane, Brading, pleaded guilty to drug driving at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 8.
Munayah Hussan, prosecuting, said police were informed, on May 14, about a crashed vehicle on Ashey Road and skidmarks left on the road.
Ms Hussan told the court police discovered a white Ford Transit van with items inside identifying the driver as Pipes.
Pipes was found by officers outside his home, passed out with his van keys in his pocket, said Ms Hussan.
The 32-year-old admitted he had been driving the vehicle, his work van, and had walked home after the crash.
A drug test found Pipes had a cocaine level of 563 in his blood when the legal limit is 50.
Michael McGoldrick, defending, said his client has no idea how the cocaine got into his system and believes he was spiked, but admits he should have realised.
Magistrates handed Pipes an interim driving ban and requested a pre-sentence report, ahead of sentencing on October 6.
