An Isle of Wight primary school have been helping make a difference after its students decided on a good cause to help.
Following a school council meeting at Shanklin's St Blasius CE Primary Academy, the children, staff and parents all started to collect donations for the animals at the RSPCA Island Animal Centre.
The goods started flooding in, and last week, a group of pupils from the school delivered bedding, food, toys and specially knitted jumpers for the centre’s animals.
Rosie, a pupil at St Blasius, said: “We had our council meeting, and we agreed that the RSPCA needed our help.”
Harry added: “We all wanted to help the animals in the RSPCA home because we all love animals.”
The RSPCA branch on the Island is home to many cats, dogs, rabbits and other pets needing a forever home. There is also a specialist wildlife unit helping the Island’s wildlife.
The charity relies heavily on public donations to deliver its services, receiving no regular funding from the National RSPCA.
Rebecca Busby, IW RSPCA fundraiser, said the charity was so grateful for the school’s help.
“We really appreciate when a school and community donate to our animals in need. It was lovely to welcome them at our Animal Centre in Rookley and see how much the animals mean to them.”
