ISLANDERS joined dog owners from all over the world in walking their greyhounds at the weekend – and it was a record-breaking occasion.

The team at Wight Track, a family-run business from Kent, joined Sara Mortimer at Puckpool Park on Sunday.

The aim of the event, which was held in more than 30 different countries, was to raise awareness and showcase the breed.

A total of 52 happily homed greyhounds joined eight still looking for their forever homes.

“We have happily homed more than 100 greyhounds on the Island,” said Lisa Robbins of Wight Track.

“We offer a door-to-door service, and anyone interested can find us on Facebook.”

“Well done everyone,” said a spokesperson for the Great Global Greyhound Walk.

“A brilliant result. Another three records broken, 11,818 sighthounds, 458 walks, and 36 countries.”
