'Unforeseen circumstances' have led to the closure of a popular Isle of Wight pub.

The King's Head, Yarmouth has been shut temporarily.

In July, Character Inns confirmed the pub was no longer part of the group and it was announced a new management team would be taking the helm.

The County Press has been told a deal with the new operators has fallen through and the pub is back on the market.

A post on the King's Head Facebook page said: "We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your fantastic support throughout this amazing summer season.

"Though we may be taking a brief hiatus, please keep a close eye on our page for updates and announcements.

"We're committed to keeping you in the loop, and we can't wait to share news about our return."

Character Inns has told the County Press it plans to reopen the pub as soon as possible.
