POLICE are reacting to a rise in vehicle crime in a residential area of an Isle of Wight town by stepping up patrols and carrying out investigations.
A PCSO will be conducting patrols in Currie Road in Lake, "speaking to local people and doing CCTV scoping" after two vehicles were damaging by 'keying', sometime between 5pm and 7pm, overnight between September 29 and October 2.
Police are appealing for any information that may help with their inquiries.
Contact the police on 101, quoting crime reference numbers 44230402543 or 44230402641.
"If you have CCTV or doorbell cameras that covers this area, that may have captured an image, then please can I ask for you to view this and, if it has captured anything, please get in touch," the police have posted on their Isle of Wight Police Facebook page.
"Please ensure you are vigilant at all times, calling police to report any suspicious activity — not just around your own property, but anything suspicious in your residential area and community.
"We want people to feel confident to report crime, and this approach plays into breeding confidence with the public and our local communities."
In an emergency use 999, or 101 for non-emergency. It is not too late to report any suspicious activity to police.
