A TEAM of surfers from the Isle of Wight will be competing in the 2023 Korev Lager English Interclub Surfing Championships in the West Country this weekend.
In what is a much anticipated event for the English surfing community, the competition will take place at England’s iconic inland 'surf lake', The Wave, in Bristol.
The Island contingent, all members of the Isle of Wight Surf Club, will comprise Boe and Nigel Howell, Jago Tasker, Matt Harwood, James Ranson, Shane and Noah Geary, Doug Richards, Aled Chivers and former County Press photographer, Paul Blackley.
The contest will see surf clubs from across England come together to compete on advanced settings on the lake, in what will be the ultimate surf club showdown.
Rivalries ignited, friendships new and old formed, this event is a highlight of the surfing calendar.
Surfing will get underway at 12pm on Saturday and 8am on Sunday, followed by a presentation ceremony.
