A DRUG dealer was caught collapsed at the wheel of his car at a McDonald's drive thru on the Isle of Wight.

Jamie Stephens, of Monkton Street, Ryde, faced an indictment of possessing Tramadol and possessing Etizolan with intent to supply, between May 1, 2021, and January 1 last year.

In April, he denied the charges, but changed his plea on September 6, just before his trial.

In December 2021, police were called to McDonald's in Ryde following a report a driver acted suspiciously at the drive-thru, said Tim Devlin, prosecuting, at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.

When officers arrived at McDonald's, they saw Stephens slumped over the steering wheel, passed out.

There was a cannabis smell from his car and officers spent several minutes trying to revive him.

When he came round, Stephens appeared drunk.

Stephens had a bag in car containing 150 Valium tablets. He said he took five nightly.

He also had six Tramadol and 499 blue Etizolam tablets.

Police said the drugs seized had a street value of between £327 and £550.

After considering a report, Judge Paul Garlick handed Stephens 18 months' probation, which included 150 hours of unpaid work.
