The syllabus for the Isle of Wight Music, Dance and Drama Festival 2024 (IWMDDF) has been released, with the festival celebrating a century since its first event.

This will be the 94th festival, with the event being held every year since 1924 – except for the war years – when it was called the Isle of Wight Musical Competition Festival.

The only festival of its kind on the Island, IWMDDF provides an opportunity for public performance in a supportive environment with constructive feedback designed to encourage young people and adults to improve and achieve their potential.

All classes are judged by paid professional national and international adjudicators, who will provide all entrants with a written assessment of their performance.

Chris Hartley, one of IWMDDF’s trustees, said: "Entering online is easy to do, just following the link from our website, and we will always be happy to assist if you have any queries.

“If you want to keep up to date with what is happening, please follow our Facebook page.”

It provides a platform for amateur performances and combines an educational element from professional musicians, dancers and speakers.

There are 684 classes to choose from, including speech, drama, vocal, instrumental music and dance categories.

Entries can be made online until the deadline on December 8.
