THE Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) were granted additional time while police investigate a road traffic incident involving an Isle of Wight man, who drove a Jaguar car with passengers left seriously injured.
Perry Powell, of Creek Gardens, Wootton, faced charges of drug driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs, on Staplers Road, Newport, on March 24, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court, on Friday, October 6.
The CPS withdrew the driving whilst unfit through drugs charge, but Lauren Stone, prosecuting, requested an adjournment to allow the police to conclude their investigations into the accident and for the CPS to consider adding a further charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
No plea was taken for the drug driving charge.
Magistrates allowed the extra time and bailed the 29-year-old to reappear at the same venue on November 3.
