A Sandown woman has been banned from driving after being caught over the cocaine limit while rushing to the Isle of Wight ferry.
Robyn Shaw, of Sandown High Street, attended the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Friday, October 13, for sentencing.
Lauren Stone, prosecuting, said the 28-year-old's Ford Fiesta was stopped on Undershore Road in Lymington, near the Yarmouth ferry, on March 8.
Ms Stone told the court Shaw told police, after failing a roadside DrugWipe, she had taken cocaine a week before.
A blood test later confirmed Shaw had a reading of 350 of a metabolite of cocaine when the legal limit is 50.
Nick Muir, defending, said his client had been on the mainland with a friend and was rushing to the Wightlink ferry, and accepted she was slightly over the speed limit and feels "fully remorseful and ashamed of the incident."
Mr Muir said Shaw had been taking drugs at the time due to a stressful relationship and a drug dealer 'taking over her home'.
Shaw was disqualified from driving for 12 months, but magistrates went 'outside their guidelines' to grant a 15-month conditional discharge.
