A DISQUALIFIED driver from Kent caught drug driving on the Isle of Wight with his family on board his Volkswagen Passat, faces a possible jail term.
Michael Blow, of Knockhall Chase, Greenhithe, admitted drug-driving, driving whilst disqualified, obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty and driving with no insurance, in Ryde, on June 12.
Police pulled over Blow along Esplanade.
When they spoke to him, Blow smelt strongly of cannabis and gave him a roadside drugs swab, which tested positive for the substance.
During the procedure, Blow falsely identified himself as Nicholas Blow, his brother, said Lauren Stone, prosecuting, at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Friday (10).
Following his arrest, Blow provided a blood reading of 4.6 ug/L for cannabis derivative THC. The legal limit is 2.0.
Blow apologised for lying.
Police discovered Blow was six months' shy of completing a five-year driving ban, imposed for dangerous driving.
For Blow, Michael McGoldrick said his client had wanted to get to the ferry and home as quickly as possible, without any extra stress, so he gave the police the false name.
Magistrates ordered a report, covering all sentencing options, including imprisonment.
Blow was bailed to reappear for sentencing at Medway Magistrates' Court, Kent, on December 15.
