A flood alert has been issued for the entire Isle of Wight coastline amid an expected 'higher than normal' tide due to unsettled weather tomorrow (Tuesday, November 14).
The Environment Agency has warned that the strong Westerly Force 5 winds could increase the risk of flooding affecting some seafronts, esplanades and car parks across the Island.
Earlier today (Monday), the IW Met Service and the Met Office issued yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain starting at 5am on Tuesday.
Water will be high up slipways in Cowes, affecting Medina Road and the Floating Bridge.
In East Cowes, seawater forced up through drains may cause 'very minor' impacts to the road at Albany Road.
After the high tide, the weather is expected to become more settled, the Environment Agency said.
At Medina Road, near the Floating Bridge, the tide may rise to be only 0.1m below the top of front door steps.
The Environment Agency recommends, as a precautionary measure, and if you have it, to install flood protection at Medina Road one hour before high tide - at 11.09am.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Yar and tributaries from Whitwell to Bembridge have received their own flood alert after nearly 20mm recorded rainfall in the last 12 hours, with the area already very saturated.
At Langbridge and Alverstone Road Bridge, the river will be close to the top of the river bank, the Environment Agency has warned.
Levels at Sandown are said to be rising, with flooding at Golf Links Road and Morton Common expected.
Ditches around Fort Holiday Park will 'struggle to drain' while river levels are high.
The Environment Agency is operating Bembridge sluice so that water can flow out to sea between high tides.
