WHEN you are out and about around the Isle of Wight this coming week, be sure to know which roadworks to avoid in some of the major towns.

Thanks to Island Roads, we have provided a handy selection of those worth avoiding.

IN NEWPORT: 

  • Blackwater Hollow — will be shut during utility works, between its junctions with Blackwater Road and Birchmore Lane, between 8am on Tuesday and 5pm on Thursday. An alternative route will be signposted locally.
  • Blacklands Lane — will be closed during carriageway repair works, along its entire length, over one shift sometime between tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday. An alternative route will be signposted locally.
  • Little London — will close during bridge inspection works, along its entire length, over three shifts sometime between Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Newport Quay — will be shut during bridge inspection works, between its junctions with Sea Street and Newport Foothpath 175, over three shifts ,sometime between Tuesday and Thursday. An alternative route will be signposted locally.

IN RYDE: 

  • St John's Avenue — will close during utility works, along its entire length, between 9am tomorrow (Monday) and 5pm on Thursday. An alternative route will be signposted locally.

IN EAST COWES:

  • Sylvan Avenue — will shut during utility works, between its junction with New Barn Road and Hefford Road, between 9am and 1pm on Wednesday, or when the works are completed.  An alternative route will be signposted locally.

IN VENTNOR: 

  • Castle Road — will close during utility works, between its junctions with Zig Zag Road and Gills Cliff Road, between 9am tomorrow (Monday) and 5pm on Tuesday.
  • Market Street — will shut during scaffolding works, between its junctions with Albert Street and Pound Lane, from 7am tomorrow (Monday) and 5pm on Friday, December 1.

IN SHANKLIN: 

  • Palmerston Road — will close during utility works. The one-way restriction along Palmerston Road will be revoked between its junctions with High Street and Cross Street, from 8am tomorrow (Monday) and 4pm on Friday, November 24. An alternative route will be signposted.
  • Atherley Road — will shut during carriageway repair works, in ones shift sometime between it junctions with Wilton Park Road and Regent Street. An alternative route will be signposted.
