After going more than two years without one, an Isle of Wight town centre welcomes the return of a Post Office today (Wednesday).
Central Convenience Store, on Newport High Street, is the new home of the town's Post Office, as the County Press revealed in October.
Newport has not had one since the former Co-operative on South Street/Pyle Street, where it was previously homed, shut in February 2021.
Its closure meant the nearest Post Office facilities were in Pan and Carisbrooke.

Today's opening means customers will, once again, be able to head to the town to post letters and parcels, as well as collect and return online shopping items.
They can also take advantage of various banking services, including cash withdrawals and balance enquiries for all the main UK banks.
Shaping Newport — a collaboration between Newport Business Association, Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council, and the Isle of Wight Council — have led attempts to bring services back.
The Post Office is due to open from 1pm today.
The usual opening hours will be Monday to Sunday, 6am until 10.30pm.
