Hundreds of people flocked to a bitterly cold Newport to enjoy the Christmas Parade and special events yesterday (Saturday, December 2).

Step Into Christmas, organised by local businesses on Scarrots Lane, offered free live entertainment, a craft market and much more for festive visitors.
Many enjoyed the opportunity to meet Mr and Mrs Claus and the Snow Queen, whose Siberian Huskies were a big hit.
Meanwhile, Quay Arts' Christmas Cracker brought wonderful crafts to its galleries, stories with Elsa and Captain America and live music from the likes of The Christmas Bells.
Newport's Christmas Parade got underway at 5pm from Church Litten and cascaded through the town before ending at the Quay.
Various businesses around the town stayed open later to support the event.
