The main road between Havenstreet and Ryde will be closed next week as major improvement work gets underway.
Stroud Wood Road, between the Carters Road roundabout and Main Road, Havenstreet, on the outskirts of Ryde, is expected to be closed for five days.
Being undertaken by Island Roads, the work will start on Monday, December 11.
The roadworks will involve deep excavations and strengthening of the highway foundations to address issues that have led to deterioration in the road surface.
Through the duration of the work, a 24-hour road closure will be in place – although access to properties will be maintained ‘if safe to do so’.
Residents have received letters outlining the work and the effects it will have on access, says Island Roads.
An Island Roads spokesperson said: “The work involves us having to excavate at depth, so unfortunately, it won’t be possible to re-open the road again at the end of each shift.
“This work is, however, designed to reduce the need for future road repair.
“We would like to thank residents in advance for their cooperation and understanding.”
