Children across the Isle of Wight have been counting down to Christmas, by staging festive shows and nativities.

Priory School's nativity, Rock Around Christmas, was performed in St Mildred's Church, Whippingham, on Friday, December 8.

It gave the traditional story a modern twist.

Principal David Lloyd said: "Even a temperamental Skoda car played a significant part in the play, as did ‘Santa-media’.

"Congratulations go to Mrs Hart and her team for preparing the cast and crew so well."

In Shanklin, St Blasius KS2 performed at St Blasius church. Their event included carols, readings and a Christingle service.

Reception children at Lanesend Primary, in Cowes, are staging Whoops-a-Daisy Angel, and have been getting in character, this week.

In Brighstone, at the annual Christmas Tree Festival, the village's Methodist church hosted a nativity pageant, complete with sheep from Wild Oak Farm.

Queensgate Primary in East Cowes has been celebrating with a A Christmas Sing-along, while across the River Medina, Cowes Enterprise College performed The Tempest.
